Travel Money Chat - Part 5 of 6: Travel Activities & Events

Cost is the #1 Reason people don't travel, so let’s unpack it with Travel Money Chat! In this post let's talk about saving money when finding travel activities and events.
Travel cost transparency is a cornerstone of my travel blog. In every blog post, I share a full breakdown of what I spent on my trips. Cost of travel isn't talked about enough! We see vacations all over social media but have no idea what they spent to get there. That stops here, In this 6 part series, I'll share exactly how you can spend intentionally on your travels.

Activities at Your Destination

Researching travel activities and attractions is my favorite part of travel planning! I will review blog videos, travel websites and recommendations to pack my trip with things to do. Here is how I find well priced things to do on my travels:
  • Use the city's tourism website for attraction tips and coupons - like operating hours, seasonal closures, entrance process and special discounts
  • Use social media (follow the city's # or tourism page) to find free events and activities like markets and festivals
  • Find πŸŽ‡dual purpose activitiesπŸŽ‡ - like city tours that offer facts on the city and give you all-day hop-on-hop-off access for free transportation on that day
  • Pro Tip: Events and activates are often cheaper in advance, so πŸŽ‡pre-purchasing ticketsπŸŽ‡ can get you a great deal and give you quicker entry into the event - This is my favorite cost saving event tip! Make sure you sign up for your event's newsletter, so you know when pre-sales start and other insider tips.  Signing up for these is my Secret for Staying in the Loop for travel activities.
As you collect ideas for things to do on your travels, make sure you keep them organized and list the cost of the activity in your research. Keeping track of the costs is KEY when comparing different activity options to decide the specific ones you will do.

Travel Cost Awareness gives you the power to know where your travel funds are going so you can decide where to spend the most on your trip! Now you are ready to explore the world and save money while you do it!
