Things You Don't Want to Know About Italy

I love traveling! BUT there are always cultural or location differences that surprise me! Here are ✨️4 Things✨️ You DONT want to know about Italy:

🚾Pay to Use Public Restrooms - many public restrooms are 1 Euro to use and some don't take cash so save those coins so you can pee

I found paid restrooms across tourist areas and train stations in Vencie, Naples, Sorrento and Milan. After I get some cash, I'll stop at a small store to get some change to use for the restroom. I keep a few extra Euros on hand to share too!

☀️Expect ALOT of Walking and Hills - Italy has amazing topography! wear comfy shoes so you can survive through the trip to see it

Many of the sea or lake front towns in Italy are on a hill! I encountered many hills in Sorrento, Naples and Lake Como all with treacherous cobble stones. Even the canals of Venice have you going up and down stairs across the canals. I actually picked up a pair of hiking sandals in Milan that saved me on the streets of Bellagio.

👚No Clothing Irons in the Hotel Room - I don't use Irons 🤫 but people in your travel group might! Request irons from the front desk in advance, if needed.

You may also have a hard time finding laundry services in the hotel. Grab more coins for the local laundry mat! (or Lavanderia) Just be sure NOT to exchange your coins for laundry tokens all at once, you may not be able to change them back.

🚇️Metro Ticket Validation - Train travel is very popular in Italy and essential for exploring! check for ADDITIONAL metro ticket validation steps to avoid fines

Sometimes these validation rules are not clearly posted so watch the locals or ask the attendant for validation steps. These machines may also not stamp your ticket enough so you may need to stamp it a few times so the punch/ink are legible.

Traveling to Italy is one of my favorite places to visit! Now that you're in the loop, you can have a great trip to Italy too! 🎉 [Save this Post] for you travel planning essentials your trip to Italy!
