Recipes: Crunchy Granola

Today I wanted to share my basic granola recipe! For about $20 you can make about 9 cups and change the recipe to include your favorites! This great snack can be cheap to make depending on the ingredients you use. Nuts and honey are the most expensive bits in my variation. My favorite ingredients in granola are dried fruit, like dried apples and cranberries, and toasted coconut.

I like having granola and yogurt for breakfast. To switch it up I will also each it with milk like cereal. I use about 1/2 cup each day so this recipe lasts me about a month. I also pack it for snacks during the day. Granola is also a great snack to take on a road trip. Check out my recipe below to make your own!

8. Spread the mixture evenly onto the parchment paper lined baking sheet.
9. Bake the granola at 350F for a minimum of 10 minutes, checking every 10 to 5 minutes for the desired color. 15-20 minutes created medium toasty colored granola. 25 minutes will create dark toasted granola.
10. When the granola comes out of the oven it will be soft. Sprinkle the salt evenly over the granola.
11. Mix the granola every 20 minutes until completely cool, It will harden as it cools. When completely cool store in an airtight container.

Lyd Explains: A Local Day Out

This year I made a plan to keep track of the activities and restaurants that I want to try in my local city Pittsburgh. In this post we will review the steps and materials I used to create my "Day Out" board so you can enjoy your own! I've also included tips on planing activities to save you money and what to take with you on your "Day Out". Fun Fact: 95% of people in the US have on average about 20 hours of leisure time per week (excluding the average amount of time spent watching TV). Why not spend it crossing things off of your "Day Out" list? To stay on top of my list I keep my ideas organized on colorful sticky notes in my kitchen. The information you put on the notes makes it easy to scan your ideas when you are itching to get out of the house. Materials: Craft paper, colorful sticky notes, markers and pens Crafting your board: - Pick a space that you look at every day to put your board on. I chose my kitchen. Your hallway, entryway or

Recipe: Coffee with Baking Spices

One of my favorite tiny ways to jazz up my day is by making myself a special cup of coffee. I love to add baking spices to my french press for a seasonal twist on my coffee. I use a unflavored medium roast coffee and make enough to fill my tumbler, about 20 oz in my french press. To my coffee I add 1/4 teaspoon each of allspice, clove, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. When I add spices I will also brew my coffee for a few extra minutes too, about 5 minutes. Don't be afraid to test your favorite combinations by adding cocoa powder or even different flavored oils like peppermint! I this brightens your Mondays as much as it does mine!
